ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA
No. 12 of 1998
AN ACT to provide for the incorporation of the Society of St.
Vincent de Pauland to provide for matters incidental thereto.

WHEREAS the Society of St. Vincent de Paul has been serving
Antigua and Barbuda since 1975 and in 1989 appointed its first
Antiguan and Barbudan Board Trustees to further develop the
mission and progress of the Society; and
WHEREAS the Society acquired lands situate in Golden Grove
and Michael's Village on which it administers charitable services
and humanitarian assistance to the sick, aged and economically
disadvantaged persons and currently the Society operates the Good
Shepherd Home for Children and the St. Vincent de Paul Elderly
Day Care Centre; and
WHEREAS it is desirable and expedient that the Society of St.
Vincent de Paul shall have the right to acquire, hold, deal with and
dispose of movable and immovable property in Antigua and
Barbuda for purposes of the work of the Society.
ENACTED by the Parliament of Antigua and Barbuda as
follows:
1. This Act may be cited as the Society of St. Vincent de Paul short title.

authority by that name to sue and be sued, to acquire and to hold real
and personal property for all purposes ~ 0 ~ e c t e d with the adminis-
tration of the affairs of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Antigua
and Barbuda and with power to sell, mortgage, alienate, lease,
exchange or otherwise dispose of the said property.
Execution of 3. All deedsof conveyance orreconveyance, mortgages,charges,
documents by leases, transfers, contracts, assignments or other deeds and docu-
Church. ments whatsoever and all powers of attorney and all notarial
instruments required to be executed by the Society of St. Vincent de
Paul shall be deemed sufftciently executed if sealed with its com-
mon seal and subscribed by the Executive Director or Chairman of
the Board of Directors of the Church for the time being and such
execution shall be valid and effectual at law.
Vesting of 4. All real and personal property in Antigua and Barbuda now

Church. de Paul in Antigua and Barbuda are hereby transferred to and vested
in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and its successors for the same
estates and interests and to the extent to which the same were
respectively at the time of the passing of this Act held or vested as
aforesaid, subject to the rights, reservations and charges if any, now
affecting the same and the trusts upon which the same are now held,
without conveyance, transfer or assignment.
Saving. 5. Nothing in this Act contained shall affect or be deemed to
affect the rights of Her Majesty, her heirs and successors or any body
politic or corporate or of any other person except such as are
mentioned in this Act and those claiming by, from or under them.
