CLASS FOUR RADIO (TWO-WAY RADIOTELEPHONE
SERVICES) AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2001

In exercise of the powers conferred upon the Minister by section
59 of the Telecommunications Act 1986, the following regulations are
hereby made:

Citation and commencement
1 These Regulations may be cited as the Class Four Radio (Two-
Way Radiotelephone Services) Amendment Regulations 2001 and shall
come into operation on 1 April 2001.

Interpretation
2 In these Regulations, "the principal Regulations" means the
Class Four Radio (Two-Way Radiotelephone Services ) Regulations 1987.

Regulation 2 of principal Regulations amended
2 Regulation 2(1) of the principal Regulations is amended by
inserting the following definition in its appropriate alphabetical position


""cellular telephone" means a mobile station intended to
connect to base stations used in a cellular service;".

SERVICES) AMENDMENT REGULATIONS 2001

Regulation 9 of principal Regulations amended
3 Regulation 9(1) of the principal Regulations is amended by
deleting the words "A licence" and substituting the words "Except as
provided in regulation 9A, a licence".

Regulation 9A inserted
4 The principal Regulations are amended by inserting the following
new regulation after regulation 9

"Duration of licence for cellular telephones
9A A licence issued for the possession and use of a cellular
telephone shall be valid for a period of one month and shall be
renewed on payment of the fee prescribed under the Government
Fees Act 1965.".
