THE CUSTOMS TARIFF AMENDMENT (NO. 2) ACT 2004

WHEREAS it is expedient to provide an exemption from import
duties for goods and material used in the construction of certain housing
schemes:
Be it enacted by The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and
with the advice and consent of the Senate and the House of Assembly of
Bermuda, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
Short title
1 This Act may be cited as the Customs Tariff Amendment (No. 2)
Act 2004.
Interpretation
2 In this Act, the principal Act means the Customs Tariff Act 1970.
Amends Fifth Schedule to principal Act
3 The Fifth Schedule to the principal Act is amended by inserting
the following new items after item CPC 4169 —

Duty Rate 0%
Authorised Beneficiary Bermuda Housing Corporation
Scope of Relief
(Applicable Commodities)
All goods and material required for the construction of
housing schemes including major domestic appliances
such as stoves, refrigerators, washing machines and
dryers, but excluding any construction equipment and
tools.
Conditions / Restrictions 1. Goods and material must be for the bona fide use of
housing schemes constructed by the Bermuda
Housing Corporation.
2. Goods and material must be certified by the
Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works, Engineering
and Housing as being eligible for exemption.

Southside housing scheme including major domestic
appliances such as stoves, refrigerators, washing machines
and dryers, but excluding any construction equipment and
tools.

Southside housing scheme constructed by Bermuda
Homes for People Ltd.
2. Goods and material must be certified by the

and Housing as being eligible for exemption.
