Retirement system--how managed.

169.420. In all metropolitan school districts of this state, there are

hereby created and established retirement systems for the purpose of

providing retirement benefits for employees of said school districts. Each

such system shall be a body corporate, and shall be under the management of a

board of trustees herein described, and shall be known as "The Public School

Retirement System of ........ (name of school district)". Such system shall,

by and in such name, sue and be sued, transact all of its business, invest all

of its funds and hold all of its cash, securities and other property;

provided, however, that such securities and other property may be held on

behalf of the retirement system in the name of a nominee in order to

facilitate the expeditious transfer of such securities or other property.

169.420. In all school districts of this state that now have

or may hereafter attain a population of seven hundred thousand

inhabitants or more, there are hereby created and established

retirement systems for the purpose of providing retirement

allowances for employees of said school districts. Each such

system shall be a body corporate, and shall be under the

management of a board of trustees herein described, and shall be

known as "The Public School Retirement System of ........ (name

of school district)". Such system shall, by and in such name,

sue and be sued, transact all of its business, invest all of its

funds and hold all of its cash, securities and other property;

provided, however, that such securities and other property may be

held on behalf of the retirement system in the name of a nominee

in order to facilitate the expeditious transfer of such

securities or other property. The retirement systems so created

shall begin operations as of the first day of the second month

next following the date upon which this law shall take effect

under article III, section 29, of the Constitution of the state

of Missouri or on the first day of the second month next

following the date when the school districts shall have

thereafter attained a population of seven hundred thousand

inhabitants or more.
