The following term, when used in this chapter, shall have the following meaning, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: Candidate for state chair of a political party--A person who seeks election to serve as the chair of the state executive committee of a political party with a nominee on the ballot in the most recent gubernatorial general election. Candidacy may be evidenced by any one or more of the following actions:   (1) declaring candidacy;   (2) soliciting or accepting a campaign contribution or making or authorizing a campaign expenditure; or   (3) appointing a campaign treasurer as a candidate for state chair.
