DECREE No.07-CP of January 23, 1997 of the Government on the establishment of administrative units of Da Nang city

To establish Hai Chau district with a land area of 2,373 hectares and a population of 203,264, encompassing 12 wards.

To establish Thanh Khe district with a land area of 928 hectares and a population of 146,241, encompassing 8 wards.

To establish Son Tra district with a land area of 5,972 hectares and a population of 96,756, encompassing 7 wards.

To establish Ngu Hanh Son district with a land area of 3,672 hectares and a population of 32,533, encompassing 3 wards.

To establish Lien Chieu district with a land area of 7,572 hectares and a population of 52,279, encompassing 3 wards.

After the readjustment of its administrative boundary, Da Nang city is now composed of 5 inner districts : Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Lien Chieu and two outlying districts: Hoa Vang and Truong Sa island district.- (Summary)
