AUTHORIZES ERECIR MONUMENTS IN THE CITIES INDICATING, |! | IN MEMORY OF THE LIEUTENANT OF CARABINEROS HERNAN MERINO |! | CORREA Having present that the H. National Congress has |! |given its approval to the following P r o y c t o d e l e y: " Article 1.- He was authorized to erect three monuments, one in the city of Santiago, another in Valparaiso, and the third in Coyhaique, in memory of the Lieutenant of Carabineros Hernan Merino Correa. Article 2.-The works will be financed through popular erogations, obtained through public collections, donations and other private contributions. The public collections referred to in the preceding paragraph shall be made on the dates determined by the special commission established in Article 4, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior. Article 3.-Create a fund to receive the services, donations and other contributions mentioned in the previous article. Article 4.-Create a special commission, composed of eight members ad honorem, charged with executing the objectives of this law, which shall be constituted by: (a) a Senator and a Deputy, appointed by their respective Chambers; (b) The Mayors of the Municipalities of Santiago, Valparaiso and Coyhaique; (c) a representative of Carabineros de Chile; (d) a representative of the Salón Lieutenant Merino Correa, and (e) The Vice President of the Council of National Monuments. The quorum for sessioning and adopting agreements shall be that of the majority of its members. The commission will preside over the Senator who has been appointed, who will also have a vote in the event of a tie. Article 5.-The commission referred to in the preceding article shall have the following functions: (a) determine the date and the manner in which the public collections referred to in Article 2 are to be carried out, as well as to carry out the necessary arrangements for their (b) Establish the sites where the monuments will be located; (c) Call for public competition for projects for the execution of the works, establish their bases and resolve them; (d) Manage the fund set up by Article 3, and (e) Open an account special current to manage the referred fund. Article 6.-If, once the monuments have been constructed, they shall be surplus to the quantities received, they shall be intended to be determined by the Commission.
