Décrète:
Agreement between the Government of the French Republic and the Government of the Portuguese Republic Amendment of the Agreement on Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation of 12 June 1970 in the form of an exchange of letters signed in Lisbon on 21 and 23 December 1998 will be published in the Official Journal of the French Republic.
The Prime Minister and the Minister for Foreign Affairs shall each be responsible for the execution of the present Decree, which will be published in the Official Gazette of the French Republic.

Minister,
Following talks between I have the honour to propose to you, in the order of my Government, to complete Article IV of the Agreement on Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation of 12 June 1970 between the Government of the French Republic and the Government of the Portuguese Republic by the following paragraph:
" Each of the Contracting Parties shall recognise and facilitate the installation and operation on its territory of the institutions Education administered by the other Party, directly or through an association governed by local law. "
I would be grateful if you could let me know whether the above provisions have been approved by your Government. In this case, this letter and your reply will constitute the agreement between our two Governments on the status of schools, which will enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date of receipt of the Second notification of acceptance of the procedures required for this purpose for each Party.

I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of your letter dated December 21, 1998, the text of which is Resumed below:
" Following discussions between representatives of our States concerning the status of schools, I have the honour to propose to you, in the order of my Government, to complete Article IV The Agreement on Cultural, Scientific and Technical Cooperation of 12 June 1970 between the Government of the French Republic and the Government of the Portuguese Republic by the following paragraph:

" I would be obliged to you Let me know whether the above provisions have been approved by your Government. "
In reply, I have the honour to inform you that the Portuguese Government agrees with the text proposed by the French Party.
For example, your letter referred to above and this letter are the protocol Amendment of the Agreement of 12 June 1970, which shall enter into force on the first day of the second month following the date of receipt of the second notification of acceptance of the procedures required for that purpose by each of the Parties.
