Key Benefits:
" The Government of the Kingdom of Spain has examined the unilateral declaration to Article 8.1 presented by Singapore, at the time of its accession to the International Convention on the taking of hostages of 17 December 1979. The Government of the Kingdom of Spain considers that the said declaration constitutes an incompatible reserve for the purpose and purpose of the 1979 Convention, since it is difficult to specify the extent to which Singapore has accepted the obligations laid down in the Treaty. Article 8.1. Such reservation concerns essential obligations arising from the Convention, the observance of which is necessary for the purpose of the Convention.
Consequently, the Government of the Kingdom of Spain objects to the reservation made by Singapore to Article 8.1 of the 1979 Convention. This objection does not prevent the entry into force of the said international treaty between the Kingdom of Spain and Singapore. "
This Objection of Spain was deposited with the Secretary General of the United Nations on October 21, 2011.
