STATUS FOR WORKER
RURAL
PROVISIONS OF LAWS 10.809 AND 12.589 ARE REPLACED AS REGARDS REMUNERATION, HOUSING, ETC. AND THE WORKERS OF TAMBAS ARE DECLARED IN A PROVISION ON INFRINGEMENTS.
The Senate and the House of Representatives of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay, meeting in General Assembly,
DECREE:
Article 1 °. Substitute Articles 2 °, 3 °, and 15 and amend Articles 7 ° and 26 of Law No.
10.809of 16 October 1946, which created the Rural Worker's Statute, amended by law N °
12.589of 23 December 1958, for the following:
" Article 2 ° Rural workers over 18 years of age, employed in agriculture or livestock farming, shall receive at least and in accordance with the charges set out in the National Institute of Labor and Services Planilla Attached, the following pay:
Capataces ......................... $455.00 monthly
Monthly Peon ....................... $365.00 "
Peon per day ...................... $13.00 daily
Staff over the age of 18 engaged in household chores in rural areas will receive a minimum of 195.00 pesos (one hundred and ninety five pesos) per month. "
" Article 3 ° Rural workers under the age of 14 to 18 will receive a pay not less than $8.00 (eight pesos) per day or $195.00 (one hundred and ninety-five pesos) per month.

" Article 7 ° (Final paragraph). If the employer opted for the solution that the rural worker without a family in the establishment is fed on his own account, he/she must give him, in addition to the minimum wage set, the additional sum of $9.00 (nine pesos) per day or $270.00 (two hundred Seventy pesos) per month. "
" Article 15. In the case of farmers located at a distance not greater than five kilometres from towns or villages, employers who have family workers may opt for the provisions of Article 14 or pay a salary of $455.00 (four hundred Fifty-five pesos) monthly plus the housing and supplies of fruits and vegetables produced on the farm, as well as the necessary fuel. "
" Article 26. (first paragraph). To the employers who incur in violation of the provisions of this law, fines of $300.00 (three hundred pesos) will be applied to pesos 5,000.00 (five thousand pesos) according to the regulations that the Executive Branch will dictate. "

12.379, of 12 February 1957 and their modifications.
